IEBC Announces 2026 By-Election Date for Isiolo South MP and Three MCA Seats

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced the date for upcoming by-elections in Isiolo South Constituency and several county assembly wards. The polls will be held on February 26, 2026, following the declaration of vacancies in both parliamentary and county seats.

According to the commission, the by-elections will cover the Isiolo South Member of Parliament position as well as three Member of County Assembly seats. These include wards in Mbeere North and Mbeere South constituencies, where the positions became vacant after the former office holders exited office.

By-elections are conducted when elected positions fall vacant before the next general election. The electoral body is constitutionally mandated to organise and supervise such polls to ensure affected areas continue to have representation at both national and county levels.

With the election date now confirmed, political parties, independent candidates, and voters have a clear timeline to prepare for the campaigns and voting process ahead of early 2026. The announcement provides certainty to stakeholders as they plan for the electoral exercise.
