The survey, which evaluates how county governments are performing in devolved functions, shows Kang’ata leading with an impressive 68% approval rating.
The survey, conducted between October and December 2024, sampled over 36,000 Kenyans across the country and assessed governors based on 12 core devolved functions, including agriculture, health, education, roads, water, environment, and public participation.
Kang’ata, a first-term governor, was closely followed by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who scored 64%, and Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga, with 61%. The rankings also saw Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o securing 59%, rounding out the top four.

Other concerns included poor service delivery (14%), unmet expectations (13%), lack of transparency (11%), and slow implementation of development projects (10%).

With governors like Kang’ata, Natembeya, and Wanga leading the way, the rankings reflect a mix of strong governance in key sectors and continued challenges for some county administrations.
