NCPWD Rolls Out Mentorship Program to Empower Learners with Disabilities

The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has launched the Tunza Mentorship and Career Guidance Programme to support the personal and professional growth of students with physical disabilities. This government-funded initiative is designed to promote self-confidence, academic excellence, and social integration for individuals living with disabilities.

During the launch at the University of Eldoret in Uasin Gishu County, the Acting Executive Director of NCPWD, Eva Njoroge, emphasized the program’s importance in creating equal access to quality education. She highlighted that the initiative aims to remove barriers to learning and ensure full participation in the academic environment for students with disabilities.

“The obstacles we navigate through every day should not define you. They are your strength. Your perspective and resilience are often what stand out to give insight to the world around you,” said Njoroge.

The mentorship component of the program provides students with guidance and support to help them unlock their full potential. The initiative emphasizes collaboration, ensuring students have the resources and encouragement they need to succeed academically and professionally.

Njoroge also reassured participants that with the right mentorship, they could overcome challenges and achieve their dreams, regardless of the obstacles they face.

The Tunza Mentorship and Career Guidance Programme is a key step in the NCPWD’s ongoing efforts to support learners with disabilities and ensure they have the opportunities needed to thrive in their academic and career journeys.
