Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has officiated the launch of the national education dialogues at the Machakos International Convention Center in Machakos County.
Organized by the State Department for Basic Education, these county-based dialogues aim to enhance the quality of education and learning outcomes under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement for Effective Implementation of Competency-Based Education,” the meetings will take place in all 47 counties from March 7th to March 13th, 2025.
The dialogues provide a platform for education sector stakeholders to discuss the progress, achievements, and opportunities presented by the ongoing CBE rollout.
Key objectives of the dialogues include:
- Updating stakeholders on the status of CBE implementation.
- Providing a platform for stakeholder participation in validating Transition Guidelines from Junior School to Senior School.
- Informing stakeholders about teacher recruitment and capacity-building efforts.
- Collecting feedback on the implementation of CBE.
The launch event was attended by Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang, alongside CEOs from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), and Teachers Service Commission (TSC), among other education stakeholders.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative approach in improving education quality and ensuring the effective implementation of the CBE system.
