About the Role
The Project Coordinator – CP WASH will oversee the successful planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project interventions in Turkana. The role includes direct supervision of the Project Officer – WASH and close collaboration with project teams for synergy and integration. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for stakeholder engagement and partnership management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Implementation (35%)

Oversee daily management of climate-proofing WASH outcomes, ensuring high-quality programming.

Mobilize program participants and engage them in project activities.

Develop, update, and track project work plans while managing activity changes efficiently.

Utilize project management tools, including detailed implementation plans, to achieve project goals.

Monitor progress using benchmarks, targets, and performance indicators in collaboration with the MERL Officer.

Ensure gender equality and social inclusion principles are embedded in all project stages.

Document and disseminate evidence on project outcomes and lessons learned.
2. Partnership & Networking (20%)
-
Collaborate with key partners, including local government, NGOs, community organizations, and research institutions.

Engage in county-level planning and budgeting processes to advocate for gender-responsive public services and climate adaptation.

Support the oversight of local implementing partners.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation (20%)
-
Coordinate assessments, including baseline studies, monitoring, and evaluations.

Work with the MEAL team to track project targets and milestones.
-
Ensure project data and reporting align with Plan International’s corporate systems (SAP, PMERL).

Support joint monitoring visits with partners to assess program progress.

Prepare high-quality reports and communication materials.
4. Financial Management (5%)
-
Set up and manage project budgets in collaboration with the finance team.

Track expenditures to ensure prudent budget management.
5. Risk Management (5%)
-
Identify and manage project risks related to climate-proofing WASH outcomes.
-
Ensure compliance with donor and Plan International regulations.
6. Safeguarding & Gender Equality (5%)
-
Promote and enforce Plan International’s Safeguarding and Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) policies.

Ensure safeguarding and GESI principles are embedded in project design and implementation.

Train staff on safeguarding responsibilities and report concerns accordingly.
7. Other Duties (10%)

Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Social Studies, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years experience in coordinating climate-related initiatives and WASH projects.
-
Strong technical knowledge in natural resource management, climate change adaptation, and WASH.
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
-
Proven leadership, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
Desirable:
-
Experience in national, regional, or international feminist and ecological movements.
Languages:
-
Proficiency in English and Kiswahili is required.
-
Knowledge of the local language in Turkana is an added advantage.
