The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is a state corporation established under the Agriculture and Food Authority Act of 2013. AFA’s mission is to regulate, develop, and promote the value chains of scheduled crops to foster economic growth.
AFA consolidates the laws governing agriculture, outlining the roles of both national and county governments in agriculture and related sectors, as specified in the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution of Kenya. The Authority succeeded institutions such as the Coconut Development Authority, Kenya Sugar Board, Coffee Board of Kenya, Horticultural Crops Development Authority, Pyrethrum Board of Kenya, Cotton Development Authority, and Sisal Board of Kenya.
