A video obtained by the Standard Arena shows fans hurling stones as others flee the scene.
Violence broke out in the regular section where supporters of both teams were seated, resulting in multiple injuries.

Multiple injuries were reported following violent clashes between supporters of Gor Mahia and Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium just before their anticipated face-off.

The altercation erupted shortly before the 2 pm kickoff, leading to a chaotic scene in the stands.

Footage reviewed by the Star shows some fans engaging in stone-throwing while others scrambled for safety in the packed venue.

The confrontation began in the section shared by both sets of fans, escalating quickly as stones were launched across the stands, injuring many in the crossfire.

Amid the turmoil, some supporters stormed the pitch, further complicating efforts to restore order.

Repeated announcements urging fans to stay calm went largely ignored. As the situation deteriorated, urgent calls were made for ambulances to assist the wounded.

“Please remain calm, the issue is being addressed,” one announcer pleaded over the stadium speakers.

Security teams were deployed as the unrest persisted. By mid-morning, the stadium had already reached full capacity, setting the stage for the tense standoff that followed.
