Babu Owino Recovering Well After Medical Procedure, Thanks Supporters

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has shared that he recently underwent a medical procedure and is now on the path to recovery. The lawmaker expressed deep gratitude for the messages of support, prayers, and goodwill he received from well-wishers across the country.

In a heartfelt statement on Facebook, Owino emphasized his determination to return to public service in the New Year. “I have received with profound humility and gratitude the overwhelming concern, prayers, and messages of goodwill regarding my health. Your compassion has been a powerful source of strength for me and my family,” he said.

Owino reflected on the challenges faced by Kenyans spending the festive season in hospitals, extending his thoughts and prayers to them. He quoted a verse of faith from the Bible, Jeremiah 30:17: “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says the Lord,” encouraging fellow citizens to remain hopeful despite illness. “As I recover, my heart is especially with those who have spent Christmas in hospital beds, away from loved ones. I pray for your healing, renewed strength, and comfort, and for hope to fill your families during this difficult time,” he added.

The MP highlighted the importance of unity, compassion, and shared humanity, noting that no Kenyan should feel alone in suffering or despair due to illness or poverty. “We must continue to stand together, bound by faith, compassion, and our shared humanity,” he said.

In related news, Babu Owino was recently ranked as the most preferred Luo leader in a new Infotrak poll conducted on December 19 and 20, 2025. The survey revealed that 33 percent of respondents view him as the leading successor to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga followed with 10 percent, while Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga garnered seven percent. Other notable figures in the survey included Siaya Governor James Orengo at four percent, and Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Interior PS Raymond Omolo, both at two percent.

Owino’s openness about his health and his continued popularity in political polls underscore his resilience and the enduring support he enjoys among constituents.
