County Attorney

Duties and responsibilities

  • Principal legal adviser in the County Government
  • Member of the County Executive as ex-officio member of the executive committee
  • On instruction of the County Government, represent the county executive in court or any legal proceeding to which the County Executive is a party other than criminal proceedings;
  • Advisor to departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters.
  • Negiator drafter, vets and interprets documents and agreements for and on behalf of County Executive and its agencies;
  • Responsible for the revision of County Laws;
  • Liaise with the office of Attorney General when need arises;
  • Perform any other function as may be necessary for the effective discharge of the duties and exercises of the powers of the County Attorney.

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized University
  • A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
  • Postgraduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law;
  • Valid Practicing License
  • Have vast knowledge and experience of not less than ten (10) years in senior position in the public;
  • Five (5) years’ experience as an Advocate of the High Court.
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of the County objectives;
  • Have good communication organizational and inter-personal skills;
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles espoused in Article 10 and232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Agriculture officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementation of agriculture strategic plan, objectives and policy framework in the sub county
  • Providing technical support to farmers
  • Coordinating capacity building of farmers for maximum production
  • Coordination of Crops development and food security, Agri-Nutrition, Engineering, Extension, Research and Training, Agribusiness and Projects Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Implementation of Agricultural projects
  • Participate in projects budgeting (Public participation)
  • Prudent financial management of project funds
  • Effective and timeliness execution of extension duties
  • Compilation of field reports
  • Participation in assessments and surveys
  • Critical analysis of field reports for decision making
  • Dissemination of reports to other staff and stakeholders
  • Implement any other relevant county/sub-county activities as may be assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Bachelor Degree in, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural-Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Education and Extension, Agricultural Engineering, from a recognized institution in Kenya.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in similar work
  • Computer literate with knowledge on related Computer packages
  • Possess Proposal development skills,
  • Good Communication skills,
  • Report writing skills
  • To have resource mobilization skills

Senior Office Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the office Administrator duties including:
  • Performing book keeping services such as invoicing.
  • purchasing office supplie
  • preparing and raising payment vouchers
  • overseeing maintenance of office equipment
  • coordinating office meeting and seminars

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field (Economics, Information & Technology, Administration or its equivalent from a recognized university
  • Three (3) years’ experience in the relevant field.

Municipality Manager

Duties and Responsibilities;

The Municipal Manager will report to the municipal Board and be responsible for the following functions:

  • Developing policies, plans, strategies and programs for approval by the Board in consultation with the County Executive Committee.
  • formulation and implementation of integrated development plan as guided by the municipal Board and County Executive Committee.
  • Development and management of schemes including site development in collaboration with relevant national and county agencies
  • Implementation of National & County legislation
  • promoting infrastructural development and service delivery within the municipality
  • management and administration in accordance with the urban area and cities Act and all other relevant laws.
  • Implementation and monitoring of performance management systems
  • implementation of any other municipal Board decisions

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Management, Economics, urban Planning/Development, Sociology or any other related field from a recognized university.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Have Certified Public Secretaries (CPSK)-Final Examinations Certificate
  • Be a certified secretary of Kenya in good professional standing- member of ICS
  • Has proven experience of not less than ten (10) years in administration or management either in the public or private sector
  • Possession of at least a Senior Management Course program lasting not less than four (4) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrate managerial, leadership and professional competence in work performance and results

Municipal Physical Planner

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Preparation of Urban Land use Plans
  • Undertake feasibility studies on physical social, economic and Environmental characteristics
  • Implementing physical plans, regional urban areas and municipalities
  • Development of budgets and work plans for urban planning unit
  • Coordination of urban planning activities in the urban areas
  • Preparing action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates and recreational facilities.
  • Providing advice to government and private agencies on development proposals and plans
  • Implementing and providing feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards
  • Undertaking thematic regional studies on matters relating to physical and land use planning
  • Managing municipal physical planning data, providing advice on development control
  • Carrying out public education on physical and land use planning matters
  • Preparation annual state of physical planning reports on municipal local physical development plans

Requirements for the Appointment

  • Have Kenyan citizenship;
  • Have served in the grade of principal physical planner and above as provided for in the Scheme of Service for Physical Planning Personnel;
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning or related discipline from a recognized institution;
  • Have at least seven years’ post-qualification professional experience in physical and land use planning;
  • Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter) or Town and County Planners Association (TCPAK) and in good standing;
  • Be registered as a physical planner under the Physical Planners Registration Act, 1996 and is in good standing with the relevant professional body;
  • Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution;
  • Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results; and Not have been disqualified under the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution or any other written law.
