Chase for Inaugural KVF Men’s Kenya Cup Title Begins This Weekend.

The highly anticipated battle for the first-ever Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men’s Kenya Cup title kicks off this weekend at the Kasarani Indoor Arena. Six exciting matchups are scheduled, as ten top-tier men’s teams across the country aim for the prestigious trophy.

Among the teams competing are the reigning KVF Men’s Premier League champions, Kenya Prisons, and Equity Bank, who recently triumphed at the Kipchumba Karori Eldoret International Volleyball Tournament.

Group A and Group B Showdowns

  • Equity Bank begins their campaign in Group A with a thrilling match against former national league champions General Service Unit (GSU). The clash is expected to be a fiery contest, especially after their previously scheduled third-leg league tie was abandoned due to a power outage. Equity’s coach, Patrick Owino, expressed confidence, stating that the matches will serve as a chance to evaluate their strategies and system’s effectiveness.

  • Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) faces off against Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) in Group B. KDF will aim for a strong start in this inaugural competition.

Other Key Matches

  • Equity Bank will also play Administration Police Kenya (APK) in a crucial Group A match tomorrow, while GSU will look to continue their unbeaten run as they entertain Kenya Army in their second match.

  • Trailblazers, who were scheduled to play Chema Volleyball Club today, will start their campaign against KAPU tomorrow.

  • Kenya Prisons, the national league champions, will also square off against KDF in their only tie of the weekend. Kenya Prisons have enjoyed a strong league title defense, with their only setback being a hard-fought 2-3 loss to GSU, their bitter rivals.

The Race for the First Title

With the men’s volleyball scene heating up, the competition promises to be fierce. Teams like GSU, who remain undefeated in the league, will be looking to solidify their position as a dominant force, while clubs like Kenya Prisons and Equity aim to seize the first-ever KVF Men’s Kenya Cup.
