Police in Kakamega County are investigating a domestic violence incident after a man surrendered himself to authorities and confessed to the killing of his wife in Emusonga village. The incident occurred on Christmas Day and prompted an immediate police response following the suspect’s voluntary surrender.
According to police, the man reported to a nearby police station shortly after the incident, where he admitted involvement in the death of his spouse following a domestic disagreement. Officers said the couple had been involved in a quarrel inside their home before the confrontation escalated.
After recording the report, police accompanied the suspect back to the residence, where the woman’s body was found inside the house. Investigators secured the scene and recovered a farm tool believed to have been used during the incident. The item was taken into police custody and preserved as an exhibit to support ongoing investigations.
The woman’s body was later transferred to a mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death. Police said the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Makueni County, police discovered the body of a missing lorry driver along the Masii Tawa road in Kasyelia area. The deceased, identified as 28 year old Peter Kianga, had been reported missing before his body was found on Christmas Eve.
Police said the body had been left in a thicket, raising suspicion that the killing may have occurred elsewhere before it was dumped at the location. The lorry the deceased had been driving was later found abandoned along the Tawa Matuu road. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and the motive for the killing had not yet been established. The body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, a 25 year old man identified as Clinton Waitii died following an altercation with a colleague at the Mwimuto Fresh Farm Produce Market in Kingeero, Kabete. Police said the victim was injured during the confrontation and rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, and the body was moved to the mortuary for further examination. Police said inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
In another case, officers are pursuing suspects linked to the killing of a boda boda rider in the Pap Ndege area. The body of 25 year old Varon Okinyi was found near the Kabunde airstrip, while the motorcycle he had been riding was missing. Police believe the rider was attacked before the motorcycle was stolen. Investigations and a search for the assailants are ongoing.
Elsewhere in Savane area, Kakamega County, the body of 25 year old Eugene Imiri was found in a ditch after he was reportedly attacked at his home. Witnesses told police that a large group forced him out of the house before the fatal incident. No arrests had been made by Boxing Day as police continued with investigations.
