Mombasa Water Company Announces Board Vacancies, Invites Qualified Professionals to Apply
Mombasa Water Supply & Sanitation Company Ltd (MOWASSCO) has issued a public call for applications to fill nine Board of Directors positions, in line with the Water Act 2016, the company’s updated Memorandum and Articles of Association, and the WASREB Corporate Governance Standards (2024).
The utility provider, which serves as Mombasa County’s licensed Water Service Provider, seeks candidates with strong ethical standing, diverse professional expertise, and demonstrated community involvement. The recruitment aims to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery, and ensure balanced representation across sectors and stakeholder groups.
Who Can Apply: Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a Kenyan citizen of integrity and compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Hold at least a Diploma, while professional categories such as Law, Finance, Engineering, HR, ICT, Audit, Governance, and Business require a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s/PhD is an added advantage).
Possess at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
Demonstrate knowledge in corporate governance, strategy, and risk management.
Be active in local development initiatives and community-driven programs.
Must not:
Hold political office.
Be an employee, supplier, or trading associate of MOWASSCO.
Have served more than two previous terms as a MOWASSCO director.
Positions to Be Filled
In addition to two County Government representatives, the following nine board slots are open:
Two representatives from the business and manufacturing community (via KNCCI & KAM).
Two representatives from recognized professional bodies.
One representative for consumers (institutions of higher learning/religious organizations).
One representative from the hotel and hospitality industry.
One representative for special interest groups (youth, women, or persons with disabilities).
