While the program is open to all qualified Kenyans, the County Government noted that preference will be given to residents of Murang’a County, in line with the policies passed by the Murang’a County Assembly, which emphasize regional balance and inclusivity.
According to the announcement, the internship program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the job market. It provides young graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience, develop professional networks, and enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capacity.
To qualify, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria set by the County Government. Candidates must be Kenyan citizens under the age of 35 years and unemployed graduates who have completed a diploma or degree course within the last 24 months in a relevant field. Additionally, applicants should not have benefited from a similar internship program or gained formal work experience in their area of study since graduation.
Applicants are required to submit supporting documents, including academic transcripts, certificates, and institutional recommendation letters from their respective universities or colleges. The County emphasized that applications missing required documentation will not be considered.
The County also outlined that these internship positions are intended to build a pipeline of skilled professionals who can later transition into long-term employment, either within Murang’a County or elsewhere in the public and private sectors. By prioritizing local talent, the County aims to boost regional economic growth and enhance service delivery standards across all departments.
Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to submit their applications online via the official Murang’a County Government recruitment portal at psb.muranga.go.ke. The County urges applicants to carefully review the job requirements before submission and to apply early to avoid last-minute system congestion.
The County Government of Murang’a reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, fairness, and merit-based selection throughout the recruitment process. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. The County also warned against any form of canvassing or corruption, stating that such actions would lead to automatic disqualification.
This employment and internship announcement is part of Murang’a County’s broader youth empowerment strategy, which aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the National Employment Policy aimed at tackling youth unemployment. Through these initiatives, the County continues to position itself as a model of progressive governance focused on skill development, inclusivity, and sustainable growth.
