President Ruto Appoints Adan Mulata as NYS Chairperson Amid Major Changes in State Corporations

President William Ruto has appointed retired Lieutenant General Adan Mulata as the new non-executive chairperson of the National Youth Service (NYS), ushering in a wave of fresh appointments across several state corporations.

Mulata, founder of the Peace Prospect Institute–Africa (PPI-Africa), will serve for a three-year term. The appointment was announced in a Gazette Notice dated May 23, 2025. He succeeds Lieutenant General Njuki Mwaniki.

PPI-Africa is a Nairobi-based think tank focused on security, peacebuilding, governance, and regional policy interventions across Africa.

State Corporations See New Faces

In a parallel reshuffle, President Ruto revoked the appointment of Joseph Kimani Machiri from the State Corporations Advisory Committee, replacing him with John Mwangi Karondo, also for a three-year term.
