About the Role

Tearfund is seeking a Global Economic Empowerment Specialist to provide strategic leadership, technical direction, and innovation in sustainable development. This role focuses on strengthening livelihoods, promoting green job creation, financial inclusion, and driving environmental resilience, all integrated within Tearfund’s faith-based approach to community transformation.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment Programming – Design and support savings groups, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and green job initiatives tailored to local contexts.
✔ Strategic Leadership & Technical Support – Provide high-level advisory support, align programming with global best practices, and co-create scalable, locally driven solutions.
✔ Research, Policy & Knowledge Mobilization – Lead research, synthesize learning, and develop actionable recommendations for teams and partners.
✔ Collaboration & Thought Leadership – Represent Tearfund in regional/global forums, strengthen external partnerships, and share innovation in sustainable livelihoods.

Candidate Profile

Extensive experience in development or post-crisis recovery with civil society, local governments, or partner organizations.
Proven expertise in at least two areas: sustainable livelihoods, environmental programming, savings groups, green jobs, entrepreneurship, or financial inclusion.
Strong track record in strategic program design, technical capacity building, and innovation.
Excellent communication and cross-cultural partnership skills.
Languages: English required; French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, or Swahili an advantage.
