TRA Warns Kenyans of Fake Maasai Mara Lodges Running Job Recruitment Scam

TRA Warns Public Against Fake Tourism Establishments in Maasai Mara

October 21, 2025 – Nairobi, Kenya

The Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) has issued a stern warning to the public about fraudulent recruitment activities involving non-existent tourism establishments claiming to operate in the Maasai Mara region.

According to a press release from the authority, scammers are posing as representatives of Hotelio Gallare Game Camp (K) Ltd—also referred to as Gallera, Galleria, or Gallary—and Zebrina Gazebo Game Lodge (K) Ltd, purportedly operating within the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve and Naboisho Conservancy in Narok County.

TRA reports that it has received multiple complaints from individuals who were lured by fake job advertisements from these entities. Victims were reportedly asked to send money for Tourism Health or Food Handlers Certificates.

The authority clarified that no such facilities exist in the Maasai Mara region and cautioned Kenyans to avoid engaging with anyone claiming to represent these fake establishments.

“These activities are criminal in nature,” the TRA stated, urging victims and witnesses to report such cases to the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Tourist Police Unit (TPU), or the nearest police station.

TRA further emphasized its commitment to promoting integrity, safety, and professionalism within Kenya’s tourism industry.

For verification or more information, the public is advised to contact the Tourism Regulatory Authority via email at dg@tra.go.ke or info@tra.go.ke, or call +254 0111 161200. More details are available on the TRA website: www.tra.go.ke.
