Technical University of Mombasa Announces Its 12th Graduation Ceremony Scheduled for November 27, 2025
The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has officially announced that its 12th Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the university’s main campus starting at 9:00 a.m. This significant milestone marks another year of academic excellence and innovation for one of Kenya’s leading institutions in science, technology, and applied research. The ceremony will celebrate graduands from various schools and departments who have successfully completed their studies during the 2024/2025 academic year. The event aligns with TUM’s vision as “A Technical University of Global Excellence in Advancing Knowledge, Science, and Technology,” and will be broadcast live across the university’s official platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), allowing family members and the public to follow the proceedings remotely.
Graduands are reminded that the order of their names will strictly follow the format used in their admission documents. To ensure accuracy, the university will post the graduation list on its official website (www.tum.ac.ke) by November 10, 2025. Any necessary name corrections must be communicated to the Registrar’s office through the email address graduands@tum.ac.ke by November 12, 2025. After this date, the university will assume the listed details are final and unchangeable. The Office of the Registrar (Academic Affairs) emphasized the importance of this step, noting that the names appearing on the final list will also reflect on official academic transcripts and degree certificates.
To facilitate a smooth graduation process, graduands are required to clear all academic and financial obligations in advance. According to the announcement, all payments related to graduation should be made through the e-Citizen platform using Paybill business number 222222. Further guidance on the payment and clearance process is available on the university’s Student Management Information System (TUMMIS) portal at https://smis.tum.ac.ke. The final list of graduands will be accessible on the TUM website starting November 13, 2025, for verification. This online clearance process represents the university’s continued efforts to embrace digital transformation and streamline administrative operations, consistent with the 2025 graduation theme, “Sailing with Technology to Chart Sustainable Futures.”
The university has also provided a detailed breakdown of the convocation fees applicable to different categories of awards. Doctoral graduands will pay Kshs 7,500, Master’s degree recipients will pay Kshs 6,700, Bachelor’s degree graduands will pay Kshs 6,100, and those earning Diplomas or Certificates will pay Kshs 5,500. Upon payment, graduands will be eligible to collect their academic gowns beginning Thursday, November 20, 2025. The gowns are available for hire and must be returned by Monday, December 15, 2025. Failure to return the attire by the stipulated date will attract a daily penalty of Kshs 500. The university has encouraged all graduands to retain their payment receipts as proof of clearance when collecting their academic regalia.
On the day of the ceremony, punctuality will be of utmost importance. Graduands and invited guests are advised to be seated by 8:30 a.m., as late entry will not be permitted once the ceremony begins. In addition to the in-person celebrations, the university has ensured that the graduation will be accessible online via TUM’s social media channels. These include X: @Tum001Ke, YouTube: Technical University of Mombasa, and Facebook: Technical University of Mombasa – TUM. This hybrid approach reflects TUM’s commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and the use of technology to connect with the broader community.
The university’s Registrar (Academic Affairs) reaffirmed that TUM’s ISO 9001:2015 certification underscores its dedication to maintaining the highest standards in quality education and institutional processes. The 12th Graduation Ceremony not only signifies the culmination of years of hard work and academic achievement but also highlights TUM’s continuing role in shaping Kenya’s technological and industrial landscape. With the global economy increasingly driven by digital transformation, TUM’s graduates are expected to play pivotal roles in advancing innovation, sustainability, and socio-economic development both locally and internationally.
The Technical University of Mombasa’s leadership extended heartfelt congratulations to all prospective graduands, acknowledging their resilience and determination throughout their academic journey. As the university prepares for this highly anticipated event, it remains steadfast in its mission to nurture skilled professionals and innovators who will drive Kenya’s vision for sustainable growth.
